Susy and Keith Waters founded PilgrimWaters in 2012, combining Susy’s award-winning illustration with Keith’s background in 3D and computer graphics. Together they design and manufacture a unique collection of handcrafted textiles and home goods from their studio in Gloucester, MA.

Susy Pilgrim Waters is an award-winning illustrator and surface designer whose work spans commercial commissions, editorial illustration, and original textile design. Her large-scale botanical and abstract artworks form the creative heart of every PilgrimWaters piece — from handprinted scarves to silk-screened woodcraft.

Keith Waters brings a background in 3D design and computer graphics to the craft of making. He handcrafts PilgrimWaters’ trays and stands in the Gloucester workshop — milling maple and Baltic plywood, silk-screening Susy’s designs by hand, and overseeing the brand’s digital and retail presence.

Each textile is created in close collaboration with master weavers, printers, and finishers in Nepal and India. Susy’s large-scale original designs are handprinted in small batches, blending a modern graphic aesthetic with traditional artisan craft skills.

Keith handcrafts all trays and stands in his Gloucester workshop, milling maple and Baltic plywood and silk-screening Susy’s surface designs by hand. What began as a single painted tray has grown into a small-batch line of functional, heirloom-quality home pieces.

PilgrimWaters is committed to creating functional, heirloom-quality products that tread gently on the earth. They work to improve the lives of their small-batch makers worldwide and to deepen customers’ understanding of how each piece is crafted.

Susy and Keith bring complementary disciplines to every piece — Susy’s illustrative sensibility and Keith’s structural precision. Their process is informed by a modern handcrafted aesthetic, drawing inspiration from designers like the Eameses and artists like Barbara Hepworth.
